Camera Hub
Discover, watch, control and record the ONVIF cameras on your network.
A GNOME application that talks to your own network, and to us only to ask whether there is a new version. No account, no cloud, no telemetry. Camera addresses, credentials and video never leave the machine it runs on.
What it does
- Finds the cameras — a WS-Discovery probe on the local network, with the results offered in a chooser that fills in the rest for you.
- Shows them live — RTSP playback over TCP or UDP, your choice.
- Drives them — pan, tilt and zoom, and presets, on the cameras that offer a PTZ service. The controls appear only when the camera has them.
- Tells you what they are — device information, scopes, network details, ONVIF service endpoints and per-profile encoder settings.
- Records — straight to a Matroska file, with no re-encoding, so a recording costs almost nothing and loses nothing.

Common questions
Does Camera Hub need an account?
No. There is nothing to sign up for and no server of ours to sign in to. It talks to the cameras on your own network and to nothing else.
Which cameras work?
Any camera that speaks ONVIF and streams over RTSP, which is most IP cameras sold in the last decade. Camera Hub finds them itself with a WS-Discovery probe, and you can also add one by address if it does not answer discovery.
Is it free?
Yes, and it is free software: Camera Hub is released under the GPL-3.0-or-later and the source is available. There is no subscription and nothing to buy.
Which Linux distributions are supported?
There are packages for Debian and Ubuntu, for Fedora, and for Arch, plus an AppImage that runs on anything with glibc 2.39 or newer.
Does anything leave my machine?
Almost nothing. There is no telemetry, no crash reporting and no account, and video, camera addresses and camera passwords stay on the machine. The one connection the app makes to us is a version check — a request for a static file, carrying no identifier and no version, which you can turn off in Settings.
